Necessity for the SKU Barcode
Every task carried out by CIRRO’s Operations Team performs in fulfillment centers on your products — receiving, counting, picking, packing, returns, etc. — is handled more accurately when a barcode is applied to all units of each product stored in fulfillment center(s).
The benefits of adding barcodes include:
- Better inventory control and trackability: Barcodes aid in the identification of products, which directly impacts order processing.
- More accurate and streamlined receiving flow: Checking products into our fulfillment centers needs to be done quickly and correctly, and the best way to do that is by scanning barcodes so that our software checks them against your Inbound Order. For the inbound exception handling fee, which you can read about here.
- Reduction of picking errors: If CIRRO scans each barcode when picking and packing items, we can verify that we are shipping the correct quantities of the correct items.
Important: All apparel inventory must arrive at each fulfillment center individually polybagged and barcoded. If your apparel inventory does not arrive this way, it can cause higher receiving fees, damages to products during handling/picking, and increased picking errors.
The Barcode Definition in the CIRRO dashboard
CIRRO Barcode: When creating a SKU, the CIRRO Barcode switch will be turned on by default.Turning this switch on means you will use the CIRRO barcode as the scannable identifier for this SKU in your order flow. If you choose to use CIRRO Barcode, please make sure it is visible and scannable on the outer surface of your SKUs.
Barcode: When creating a SKU, closing this CIRRO Barcode switch off means you will use your own barcode as the scannable identifier for this SKU in your order flow. Generally speaking, one SKU has only one barcode of your own. If you need one SKU to correspond to multiple barcodes, please consult the Account Manager Team. If you choose to use your own barcode, please make sure it is visible and scannable on the outer surface of your SKUs. Please ensure the accuracy of the barcode to avoid additional fees and inbound delays. Barcode formats 128 and 93 are suggested.
